A new name for the Wedding Tower
at Darmstadt?
(ChR) The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, whose
grandparents emigrated from Kallstadt in Rhineland Palatinate – near Darmstadt
– to the United States, has contacted the mayor of Darmstadt, Jochen Partsch,
and has asked him for help to find members of the Trump family at Darmstadt.
At Kallstadt in Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland Palatinate), where the Trump
family lives since 1608, they were known as talented workmen. Studying his
family tree Donald Trump found out, that a member of his family, Gottlieb
Trump, worked as a bricklayer on constructing the Wedding Tower of Darmstadt in
1905.
Therefore Donald Trump asked the mayor of Darmstadt for changing the name
of the Wedding Tower in Gottlieb Trump Tower.
He also showed interest in buying the Palace of Darmstadt as a home for his
daughter Ivanka.
The city council still is thinking about it.
